I am guessing it was 1954, i was a 6 year old playing in my back yard in an industrial area in central scotland. about half a mile from my location there was a large iron works with tall chimney stacks. i observed what i interpreted as a bicycle tyre being thrown up in air. it flew over the tops of the chimney stacks and past over head disappearing over the rooftops in the distance. although i was a mere six year old i was puzzled as to how someone could throw a tyre to that height and for such a long distance. at 67 i have only ever told this story one or twice but have often wondered what i witnessed. the direction was from north west to south east.
