At approximately 9:10 pm, central time, my daughter went outside to walk two friends home after a birthday party and came running back into the house to tell me there were meteors falling. they had already observed several. i went outside and saw about 4-5 bright orange lights traveling from the south-southeast horizon traveling north-northeast. as they got closer to being right above us (at a very high altitude), they seemed to fade out and disappear – almost as if they were fireballs that had burned themselves out. however, after they had seemed to extinguish, we saw them reappear in the sky behind us to the north-northeast and they seemed to accelerate in speed at that point. they did not have a trail behind them and we heard no sound. my daughter observed several groupings of them in total – they had already observed a group before she came inside to tell me and in the first group they saw, she said that one diverged from the path and went upwards. one of the last ones to pass seemed to explode or break apart and it looked like something fell from it. minutes after we thought the even was over and were about to go back inside, another one appeared – all by itself and traveled steadily on the same path and then disappeared above us.
